Origins of Toy Poodle
Poodles are usually associated with France; however historians say they were originally developed in Germany. They were predominantly used for hunting in Germany. Historians are not sure when the first poodles arrived in France. However in France is where the smaller versions of the poodle became refined. The smaller poodles were favored companions to the elite. The Poodle became the national dog of France due to the poodles' intelligence, sparkling personality, amazing affection, and beautiful physical characteristics. In the 1800's Poodles began to emerge in circuses. Poodles quickly found their places as entertaining crowds. Today the poodle serves as a companion, service dog, therapy dog, entertainer, as well as a watch dog.

Poodle Sizes
Toys were bred from miniature poodles who were bred from standard poodles. The standard poodle is the oldest size of the poodles. However, there is no physical or temperamental disctinctions between the sizes.

Poodles Reputation
